Born and raised in Brazil, Leonardo Avelar grew up surrounded by art. In childhood, through drawing comics, manga, and graphic novels and in adolescence, immersed in the underground culture of music, skateboarding, and graffiti.
His tattoo journey began in 2009 in his hometown, Belo Horizonte. Driven to evolve, he dedicated himself to every style until receiving his first international invitation in 2013.
His first stop was Germany, where he worked as a guest artist every year until 2024. From there, his career expanded across Europe, with seasons in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and England where he worked from 2018 to 2026.
During this period, he balanced his time between guest spots at some of the biggest studios on the continent and appearances at major tattoo conventions across Europe and Brazil, earning awards for his work at many of these events. Between trips, he always made time to dive into museums and art exhibitions, expanding his technical and artistic background.
While he has always created fully custom work in all styles, one passion always stood out: geometric tattooing. In 2021, he decided to focus exclusively on it, transforming a lifetime of experience into tattoos that combine bold lines, dotwork, and depth delivering a unique piece to each client that flows with the body with both fluidity and impact.
In 2026, after taking his art throughout South America and Europe, Leonardo chose vibrant, sunny Los Angeles as his new home, seeking fresh inspiration and to continue delivering the best in experience, exclusivity, and attention to detail. He now works from a modern and comfortable private studio in the North Hollywood Arts District.
